ABB net rises 42 pc in Q2

ABB has recorded a 32 per cent increase in its revenue for the half-year ending June 2005 at Rs 1292.5 crore, over the previous year's six month period.

During the second quarter, the company clocked revenues of Rs 673 crore compared to Rs 527.2 crore during the corresponding period in the previous year.

Its net profit for the half year during 2005 grew by 50 per cent at Rs 71.1 crore compared to the corresponding period in 2004, driven mainly by higher revenues and continued focus on operational efficiencies.

In the second quarter in 2005, its net profit after tax was Rs 43.6 crore, a growth of 42 per cent, compared with Rs 30.6 crore during the corresponding period last year.

The company booked orders worth Rs 1831.9 crore during the half-year ended June 2005, 47 per cent higher compared to the corresponding period last year.

This was possible due to another record order intake in the second quarter.

Orders booked in the second quarter were at Rs 937. 9 crore, an improvement of 43 per cent over the second quarter in 2004.
