, ONGC is expected to place orders for equipment for the Rs 900-crore methane (c2) - propane (c3) project at Dahej SEZ in Gujarat in August this year.

The c2-c3 plant will produce feedstock for the proposed Rs 4,000-crore petrochemicals project at Dahej, the preparatory work for which, however, is running behind schedule.

The SEZ is promoted jointly by ONGC and Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC).

ONGC has tied up with Petronet LNG Ltd (PLL) for supply of LNG from its Dahej terminal for extraction of c2 and c3.

Apart from propane, the petrochem unit will also use naphtha produced by MRPL as feedstock.

Sources said despite the delay in finalising the detailed feasibility report of the core petrochemical project, it would be completed before the proposed petrochem project at Mangalore and the refinery in Rajasthan.
