Dredging activity for Sethusamudram to start from Nov

Madurai , July 25

DREDGING would start for the Sethusamudram Ship Channel Project (SSCP) on November 1 after finalising the agencies for which a global tender has been floated on July 9, the Union Minister for Shipping, Road Transport and Highways, Mr T.R. Baalu, has said.

Currently, Dredging Corporation of India has been carrying out the assigned work of dredging a length of 13.57 km. To carry out the works between the Gulf of Mannar and Adam Bridge, between Adam Bridge and Pak Bay and between Palk Bay and Palk Strait, the tenders have been called.

Simultaneously, preparation of designs, drawings and tender documents for on-shore facilities, procurement of navigational aids and port crafts are being carried out, the Minister said while talking to the presspersons at Tiruneveli recently.
