PM's US visit

The change of the US' outlook towards India is evident in the former committing itself to adjusting its domestic laws and international treaties to facilitate nuclear supply to India.

The agreement between India and the US marks the acknowledgement of India as a full-fledged nuclear power. Hopefully, the agreement may pave the way for supplies of fuel-enriched uranium.

Despite all this, the US has remained non-committal on the issue of a permanent seat for India with veto powers in the proposed expansion of the United Nations Security Council.

The Indo-US tie-up should benefit both the countries. The issue of terrorism, which has become global phenomena, should engage the attention of the US, and all countries should unite to fight against it.
