Human Resources CII plans to extend iTalent search across the country Our Bureau
Hyderabad , July 27 THE Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Southern region, which is in the process of identifying and encouraging talented young techies through iTalent, plans to make it an all India event in next two-three years. Addressing a press conference here today, the Chairman of iTalent Committee and Vice-President of Tata Consultancy Services Ltd, Mr Ravi Shah, said the first essay held in 2004 received excellent response with students from about 76 colleges taking part. However, a significant number of these colleges were from Tamil Nadu. Therefore, effort this year has been focussed on expanding the participation from Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala. In fact, CII plans to take the contest across the country in a phased manner, Mr Shah said. A CII sub-committee set up in 2003 initially focussed attention on Managemantra to encourage the student talent of management institutes. This gradually paved the way for the first essay of iTalent, an exclusive event focussed on students of IT and computer science streams. The three-stage contest structure, which is project centric, invites participation from students of the final year engineering and similar fields who are formed into teams of three students.
