THE Chairman and Managing Director of Corporation Bank, Mr V.K. Chopra, has advised the bankers to update their knowledge in respect of Basel II and develop necessary skills in risk management.

Inaugurating a seminar on `WTO and Basel II', organised by the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance (IIBF) in Mangalore on Tuesday, he said that when banks improve their knowledge and skill in the area of Basel II they might find it easy to compete successfully.

Mr R. Bhaskaran, Chief Executive Officer of IIBF, who welcomed the gathering, said that bankers should take interest in areas such as Basel II due to the challenges and opportunities available to them.

Mr Ananthakrishna, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Karnataka Bank Ltd, delivered the valedictory address.

Mr K.L. Gopalakrishna, Executive Director of Corporation Bank, was present.
