Leatherman now in India thru Young India Films

Our Bureau

Chennai , July 27

LEATHERMAN, the American multi-utility tool, is now just a phone call away... OK, a call and a few thousand rupees away.

Young India Films, a Chennai-based company, now represents Leatherman in India and is the exclusive distributor for Leatherman.

Announcing the launch here today, Mr Vivek Bhasin, Director, Young India Films, said initially, in keeping with the product's exclusivity, Leatherman would be available through a direct marketing route.

A phone to Young India Films and a salesman would come to the caller's doorstep with the entire Leatherman range and assist the buyer in making the choice.

Soon there will be an exclusive Leatherman store at one of the upmarket shopping areas in Chennai and in a few high-end stores.

By the year end the range will be available in the other metros and large cities, he said.

A Leatherman compact utility tool is for everyone - be it a software engineer, automobile engineer, traveller, trekker or a do-it-yourself enthusiast.

A Leatherman has emerged a `must-have' product and defence services in more than 30 countries have made a Leatherman tool a part of the outfit, says Mr Bhasin.

The utility tool range starts at Rs 2,500 and goes up to Rs 9,500.

Some of the popular range that is available in India is the Core, Wave, Juice, Squirt, Fuse and the Super Tool 200.

Leatherman based in Portland, Oregon, US, sells its range in more than 100 countries.

It has a 54-per cent market share in the compact multi-utility tool segment.

Each tool comes with a choice of leather or ballistic nylon sheath and 25 year guarantee that is virtually a replacement guarantee for all but damage caused by abuse of the product.
