MANGALORE: The Mangalore Chemicals & Fertilizers (MCF) Ltd, a UB Group company, recorded a profit before tax (PBT) of Rs 4.95 crore during the first quarter of the current financial year as against Rs 1.17 crore in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal.

A company release said here on Thursday that the improvement in net profit for the quarter is due to higher production and sales of urea. However, production and sales of DAP (di-ammonium phosphate) were lower due to non-availability of phosphoric acid, due to the delay in finalising the DAP pricing policy by the Central Government, the release said.

The unaudited results were approved by the board of directors at its meeting in Bangalore on Wednesday.
