THE Chairman of Apparel Export Promotion Council and President of Tirupur Exporters' Association, Mr A. Sakthivel, has asked the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Ms J. Jayalalithaa, for help in getting 25 per cent subsidy from the State and Central Governments to set up reverse osmosis plant to ensure zero discharge.

Earlier, following a Madras High Court order more than 600 dyeing and bleaching units in the Tirupur area were closed down.

He also asked the Chief Minister to consider setting up a separate textiles export promotion board for Tamil Nadu, as textile exports from the State were estimated to be about Rs 53,000 crore.
