New Delhi , July 30

HONDA Motorcycle and Scooter India Ltd (HMSI) has agreed to reinstate all suspended staff as well as the four sacked workers in a peace deal with its employees, four days after the workers were lathi-charged by the police in Gurgaon during an agitation.

The agreement was brokered by the Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda, on Saturday morning in the presence of representatives of the workers and the HMSI President, Mr Yukihiro Aoshima.

Following the agreement, the workers, who had been on strike for over a month, resumed work today at the HMSI unit in Gurgaon. The agreement was hammered out after the intervention of the UPA Chairperson, Ms Sonia Gandhi, who met with representatives of the workers on Friday.
