Airlines Marketing - Promotions & Offers Cosmic Air to continue `one-for-one' scheme Ashwini Phadnis
New Delhi , July 31 IF you are planning a holiday in Nepal here is some good news. The Nepalese airline, Cosmic Air, plans to continue with its `one-for-one' scheme, whereby a passenger buying a full fare ticket is given another free even during the high season. "The one-for-one package has become the benchmark for the industry. We will continue with the scheme even during the peak season," the airlines General Manager, Marketing, Mr Sliew Lawrence, told Business Line. The airline that was recently permitted to fly between India and Nepal currently operates regular flights between Kathmandu and Delhi, Kolkata and Varanasi. The airline has also been approached by the Uttaranchal Government to help them set up an airline in the State. "Since we have the experience of opening airports in mountainous terrain, the State Government has approached us to help them start an airline," Mr Lawrence said. Meanwhile, the airline that has the right to carry passengers between Delhi and Karachi is also interested in flying between Delhi and Kabul. "We are evaluating the Delhi Karachi route and will also be interested in looking at flying between India and Afghanistan," Mr Lawrence said. Cosmic is also keen to expand operations into India. In this context, airline officials felt that India and Nepal should follow a liberal open sky policy that would allow more flights between the nations. "At present we are using the entire entitlement that we are allowed. But we would like to expand our operations here but cannot do that. The Governments of India and Nepal should hold air services talks to expand the ambit of the current agreement so that the pent up demand of passengers is met," senior airline officials said.
