Nabard promises additional funds to AP

FOLLOWING a request by the State Government for additional funds for rural projects, the Nabard Chairperson, Ms Ranjana Kumar, has promised support.
At a meeting with the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, issues relating to Nabard projects in the State covering school buildings, irrigation sector including micro irrigation programmes were discussed.
The Chief Minister thanked the Chairperson for clearing the Rs 282-crore school building project and for agreeing for in principle sanction of the primary health institutions costing Rs 103 crore. He requested for early clearance of the proposal relating to the Rs 48 crore for Junior Colleges.
Dr Reddy was informed that Andhra Pradesh is a leading State in availing the RIDF loan component, right from the start of the scheme and over a period of 10 years, an amount of Rs 7,471 crore worth projects (Nabard loan Rs 6,027 crore) have been sanctioned and an amount of Rs 3,567 crore was disbursed under this programme.
Already the Government have made an allocation of Rs 2,300 crore towards irrigation. Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) worth Rs 410 crore have been sent to Nabard and the Irrigation Department is submitting further DPRs shortly.
This year, the total requirement under RIDF in the State is Rs 5,340 crore and DPRs worth Rs 1,732 crore have already been submitted to Nabard. Last year Rs 1,561 crore was sanctioned under RIDF scheme. .
