Mumbai , Aug. 1 D-LINK has reported a 20.8-per cent fall in net profit for the first quarter ended June 30. The quarterly net profit amounted to Rs 5.44 crore as against Rs 6.87 crore reported for the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal. Additional R&D costs of 0.79 crore and service centre expansion cost of Rs 3 crore dented profits, despite net sales rising by 9.4 per cent, according to a news release from the company. Net sales amounted to Rs 55 crore, up from Rs 50.3 crore reported for the same year-ago quarter. The drivers of growth were wireless, IP phones, managed switches and cabling products, the release said. The company has increased the number of its service centres from four to 13. Earnings before interest depreciation and taxation for the quarter dipped to Rs 8 crore (Rs 9.8 crore). Profit before tax was lower as well, at Rs 6.45 crore (Rs 8.58 crore), while provision for taxation went down by 0.76 crore.
