Thanjavur , Aug 1 THE need for entrepreneurs to have knowledge of all subjects was stressed by Mr B.V. Ramanan, Chairman and Managing director, Livia Polymer Bottles Ltd, here today. Inaugurating the Business Line club, at Shanmugha Arts Science Technology and Research Academy (SASTRA) Deemed University , Mr Ramanan said that knowledge is more important for entrepreneur as it is the "strength" for him. "He should have knowledge of rules and regulations. He should have knowledge about anything - politics, cinema, business, communication," Mr Ramanan said. This can be gained by reading newspapers like Business Line, he said. Entrepreneurs should also improve communication skills, which again can be done by reading newspapers. Mr Ramanan said that an entrepreneur should have good perception of an idea, credible business plan, clarity of what he wants to do and above all belief in himself to become successful. He said that project managers also act as entrepreneurs as they "organise, manage and assumes risk" while running an industry. Entrepreneurs have to face global competition where only the best survive. They also have more opportunities such as availability of global technology, global market, huge growth in buying power etc. This is the first club to be started in a University in the State. Phoenix Association of the School of Management of SASTRA was also inaugurated on the occasion. Mr T.S. Raghavan, Chairman of Phoenix Association said that the association played a vital role in developing the soft skills of the students by conducting seminars, quizzes, games, paper presentations etc. Mr Vaidya Subramanian, Dean, Planning of SASTRA said that lot needs to be done to equip the MBA students, value addition being one. Industry-Institution relationship should be given importance to train the students. He suggested making a case study of family owned concerns, which are successful by MBA students. Mr Srikanthan, Regional Manager, The Hindu, Tiruchi also spoke. Mr M. Nagappan, student chairman of Phoenix proposed a vote of thanks.
