Our Bureau

Kolkata , August 1

HEAVY rains for the past few days have hit operations at Paradip port.

Both ship movement and loading and unloading of cargo have been affected, according to sources from the Paradip Port Trust

There has been no cyclone warning so far. Only the number three signal was flashed, prohibiting fishermen to venture into the sea.

The road and rail connections with at the port are still intact.

But the PPT authorities are keeping their fingers crossed, as rising water levels in several rivers have already inundated many areas. The rains have also hit operations in mines. and therefore, this, in turn, has affected the loading of coal and other minerals — both for exports and coastal shipments — at through the port. it is learnt.
