MCCAIN Foods India, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Canadian food major McCain Foods, is planning to set up a Rs 70-crore potato processing plant in the Mehsana district of Gujarat.

The plant would have an annual processing capacity of 30,000 tonnes and is scheduled to start production in second half of 2006, a company release said.

"This factory is designed to expand as we build our business and grow the marketplace for frozen potato products," Mr Dale F. Morrison, President and CEO of McCain Foods said.

McCain Foods is world's largest producer of French fries and potato specialties with sales over $6 billion, the release said.
