Mumbai floods

The continuous monsoon showers during the last seventy-two hours in Mumbai has not only brought the city's bustling routine to a standstill, paralysing all transport and communication, but it has also sent a serious message to the Mumbai Muncipal Administration on the city's poor drainage system.

It is unfortunate that a city considered one of the world's richest and one whichdominates most of Indian economic scenario is transformed literally into an island when the monsoon season starts.

It is high time the authorities took up the issue before the Centre and evolved a hassle-free drainage system.

The floods that are, at this minute, swamping Mumbai should be an eye-opener and spur authorities into immediate action.
