A kettuvallam that ferries provisions from Ernakulam main market to Kodungalloor is anchored in the market canal.

These country boats carry about 20 tonnes of cargo and take about 12 hours to reach Kodungalloor, about 40 km by road from the Ernakulam main market. This boat, among the two survivors from a bygone era, still makes two trips a week, defying competition from lorry transport.
