ALL students in the first batch graduating from the Chennai-based Great Lakes Institute of Management (GLIM) have been placed.

According to a press release, the highest salary offered was Rs 17 lakh by British Telecom; the average salary was Rs 5.5 lakh.

Dr Bala Balachandran, Dean, GLIM, said 50 per cent of the students were recruited by the top-four information technology companies in India. Godrej was a top recruiter in the FMCG (fast moving consumer goods) segment. This year about 70 companies recruited at GLIM.

Dr Balachandran, who is also a professor at Kellogg Business School, US, said the institute would like to move towards a 50:50 men-women ratio.

It would spearhead the cause of Indian women managers through specialised initiatives like SWIM (Successful Women In Management), which was inaugurated early in the year by Ms Mallika Srinivasan, Director of TAFE.
