Pvt airlines owe Rs 71.5 cr to Govt

THE private sector airlines owe the Government more than Rs 71.5 crore till March-end this year, Parliament was informed today.

The Civil Aviation Minister, Mr Praful Patel told the Lok Sabha that while Jet Airways owed the Government over Rs 24.37 crore, Sahara Airlines had outstanding of over Rs 11.15 crore and the now defunct East West airline owed Rs 16.22 crore.

Among the other private sector airlines with dues are NEPC Airlines (Rs 3.54 crore), Jagson Airlines (Rs 1.14 crore) and Mesco Airlines (Rs 3.06 crore).
