Central aid to fight Naxals

HYDERABAD: The Centre has increased financial assistance to Andhra Pradesh in its fight Naxalites. For the year, 2005-06, a sum of Rs 80 crore was allocated for the State under the police modernisation scheme.

In addition to this, the State would get Rs 8.1 crore under the security related expenditure scheme for 2004-05 and 2005-06 and Rs 79.73 crore under police modernisation scheme.

For the integrated development of the Naxalite-affected district, the Government had allocated Rs 360 crore for three years beginning 2003-04, according to an official release.
