Development of terminal at Chennai port to go on

THE Madras High Court has vacated an interim injunction obtained by the Chennai Container Terminal Pvt Ltd, the private operator running the container terminal inside the Chennai port, against the development of a second container terminal inside the port.

There are no legal impediments for the development of the second terminal, and it will be developed as per schedule, according to a press release issued by the Chennai Port Trust.

The pre-bid meeting for the development of the second terminal that was to be held on August 1 has been postponed to September 1 on request from prospective bidders. The bidders have been intimated to submit queries pertaining to the draft request for the proposal circulated to them by August 27, the release says.
