Wage talks: Transport workers unhappy

Our Correspondent

Madurai , Aug. 5

TRANSPORT workers are dissatisfied with the progress in wage settlement talks.

A meeting of trade unions consisting of Labour Progressive Front (LPF), Centre for Indian Trade Unions (CITU), Tamilnadu Transport Staff Federation (FTSF), All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) and Hindu Mazdoor Sabha, held here recently, has expressed concern over the absence of the Transport Minister and Secretary in the ongoing negotiations between the Government and trade unions.

The unions have accused the management of pursuing a lopsided approach and attempting to thrust a predetermined wage structure, taking the minority unions into confidence.
