SBI's community service to focus on healthcare, education

STATE Bank of India will focus on healthcare and education under its community service spending, according to Mr P. Chaudhuri, Chief General Manager, Local Head Office, SBI, Chennai.

SBI which sets aside 2 per cent of its profits to be spent on community development including providing succour to the poor children and the downtrodden with the help of the recognised social service institutions/NGOs is also providing support in bridging gaps in infrastructure in schools and improving class room conditions. These support service is predominantly being extended through social organisations exempted from Income Tax under sec.80G.
