Sindhia to seek nod for SEZs

BANGALORE: The State Industries and Infrastructure Minister, Mr P.G.R. Sindhia, is meeting the Prime Minister on Tuesday to seek speedy clearance of the State's pending infrastructure projects.
Among them are the SEZs, in particular, the Rs 25,000-crore zone promoted by ONGC in Mangalore. Mr Sindhia is scheduled to raise these also in his meeting with the Union Commerce Minister, Mr Kamal Nath, an official release said.
Mr Sindhia is also slated to brief the President on the progress made on the Bangalore international airport project, which got off the mark last month.
In his meeting with the Finance Minister, Mr P. Chidambaram, the Minister is to seek removal of the disparities in petrochemical taxation rates between Karnataka and Jammu & Kashmir and the North-East.
Mr Sindhia will discuss with the Union Agriculture Minister, Mr Sharad Pawar, the setting up of agricultural science and research centres in Karnataka. He is to also meet Union Ministers and MPs from the State.
