IA rings in one-point info service

Our Bureau

Hyderabad , Aug. 9

PEOPLE can now call 1407, a toll-free number from any part of the country to get information on all Indian Airlines (IA) services.

"It is a one-point information on any IA service. Be it flight departure or arrival, timing, schedule, fares, seat availability, telephonic reservation, current status of booking or details about new offers," an IA official said.

"It is not just Hindi or English. The IA users can speak in their own languages and get answers in the respective languages," he said.

The public sector carrier has expanded the scope of its round-the-clock help line (1407) to make it a pan-India service.

The service is currently available in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Gujarati, Marathi, Bengali and Assamese. "We are going to expand this to Punjabi and Oriya soon," the official told Business Line here on Tuesday.

Calls to 1407 would be toll free when they are made from MTNL or BSNL phones (both landline and mobile) both in six metros and others.

Non-MTNL/BSNL callers in the metros would need to prefix the city code.People from non-metros need to prefix `1600180' to 1407.
