Railways moves 51.36 mt of freight in July

New Delhi , Aug. 10

BY carrying 51.36 million tonnes (mt) of revenue-earning freight in July, the Indian Railways missed the target of 52.18 mt.

However, it showed an increase of 1.7 mt over the freight of 49.66 mt carried during July 2004, informs an official statement. During June 2005, the Railways had carried 52.4 mt of freight.

During the first four months of this fiscal, the Railways carried 211.34 mt of revenue-earning freight, which is 6.35 mt higher than the target. The freight carried shows an increase of 20.42 mt over the freight of 190.92 mt carried during the corresponding period last fiscal. The target for April-July 2005 was 204.99 mt.
