Italian cos keen to invest in Bengal, Gujarat

OVER 50 medium and large-sized Italian companies are keen to invest in West Bengal and Gujarat among other States in agri-business, food processing, petrochemicals and power sectors, according to Mr Raffaele Langella, Head of Economic and Commercial Section, Embassy of Italy.
Addressing an interactive session on `Emerging business opportunities in Kolkata' jointly organised by the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India and Bengal Peerless Housing Development Company here, Mr Langella said a delegation of 50 business leaders from Italy with the Italian Infrastructure Minister would visit India next month to further negotiate their business proposals with the Indian industry.
Another similar business delegation is also expected in December with one of the Ministers of Italy and possibly by then things and investment volumes would be finalised, said Mr Langella.
He said 600 Italian businessmen have already visited India between December 2004 and June 2005 and held discussions with domestic businessmen for exploring business opportunities in West Bengal and Gujarat.
