Our Bureau

New Delhi , Aug 12

THE annual rate of inflation declined marginally to 3.84 per cent in the week ending July 30 from the previous week's 4.07 per cent on account of cheaper food and manufactured products.

On a point-to-point basis, the inflation rate stood at 8.02 per cent during the corresponding week of the previous year.

Meanwhile, the rate of inflation for the week ended June 4 stood at 4.39 per cent from the provisional figure of 4.22 per cent and the WPI for all commodities during the period stands corrected at 192.8 against 192.5.

The index for the major group of fuel, power, light and lubricants, with a weightage of 14.23 per cent, rose by 0.1 per cent to 304.4 from 304.2 for the previous week due to two per cent higher prices of furnace oil.

The index for primary food articles group remained unchanged at its previous week's level of 192.5.

The index for non-food article group rose by 0.5 per cent to 182.9 from 182.0 for the previous week due to higher prices of raw rubber (8 per cent), raw silk, soyabean, groundnut seed and raw jute (2 per cent each) and copra (1 per cent each).
