Apples for sale at a street shop in Kochi. Apple production in the country is currently experiencing a boom with Himachal Pradesh alone producing 5.06 lakh tonnes. About 50,444 trucks are required to transport 4.55 lakh tonnes to the other States. With apples flooding the Kerala markets, the current prices rule at Rs 25 -40 per kg.
