AP textiles body opposes VAT

HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Federation of Textile Associations (APFTA) has opposed the proposed imposition of four per cent value-added tax (VAT) on textiles with effect from April next year. In a press release here, the federation favoured the continuation of the existing additional excise duty in the place of the proposed VAT. The general body meeting of the federation held here on Sunday has resolved to draw an action plan, involving similar associations across the country, to intensify the movement opposing VAT on textiles.
