HPCL Visakha plans petrochem complex

HPCL Visakha Refinery is planning to set up a refinery and petrochemical complex outside the refinery area with the support of MNCs, according to the General Manager-in-charge, Mr A.S. Rao.

He was speaking at the Independence Day function in the refinery on Monday. He said the refinery had achieved 104 per cent capacity utilisation, with crude throughput of 7.8 mmt per annum.

On the future plans, he said the clean fuels project was under progress with an investment of Rs 1,600 crore and the expansion project was also going on, at a cost of Rs 3,000 crore, to increase the capacity to 10 mmt per annum from the present 7.5 mmt per annum.

He later presented awards to 38 employees of the refinery.
