Software SatNav eyes facilities management space V. Rishi Kumar
Hyderabad , Aug. 15 SATNAV Technologies, a geographical information systems (GIS)-based products company, is eyeing the emerging facilities management opportunity both in India and in overseas markets. It is in parleys with some automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and automotive manufacturers for its GPS (geographical position systems)-based tracking solutions. The Founder, Managing Director of SatNav (for satellite navigation), Mr Amit Kishore Prasad, said: "as corporations, both Indian and multinational, grow, managers are faced with the challenge of managing infrastructure spread across multiple locations. To address this irksome area, we have developed an enterprise resource planning (ERP) software for companies, which helps mangers take control of the entire facility." Mr Prasad, who worked with Satyam Computer in their GIS venture, turned an entrepreneur through the company's STEP (Satyam Technologies Entrepreneurs Programme). SatNav's flagship product, a-Mantra, was initially developed and implemented in Satyam. After early incubation with Satyam, SatNav has become an independent company, owning all the IP created, having its own developers and marketing teams and networks. The company has partnered with 3D Networks for distribution in the SAARC region and has teamed up with Al-Dallel Information Systems to serve West Asia. "Early in the company history, we decided to approach the market with products rather than services even though this is a tougher task, since the pay-off is a much longer wait compared to a services-driven approach. But we have managed to be self-sufficient and have embarked on the process of partnering with leading marketing companies. These in turn help deploy these products through systems integrators," Mr Prasad said.
