THE Bangalore Chamber of Industry and Commerce (BCIC) has established a help centre at its premises for Central excise, customs and service tax.

The centre has been set up to assist small taxpayers. The help centre would primarily provide an institutional mechanism for guiding and educating the trade and industry in matters relating to Central excise, service tax and customs. The centre would also guide the trading public in customs matters, such as baggage rules relating to travel, procedures for clearance of cargo, EDI procedures, drawback and refunds & classification matters, said Mr Anant Koppar, President, BCIC. Senior officials from the department would process all queries, and replies would be sent through the help centre within three working days. BCIC has established a dedicated telephone line and e-mail id for the purpose. Telephone 51131110, e-mail: bcichelpcentre@gmci.org.in.
