Infrastructure `Techno city' to be set up near Capital Our Bureau

Thiruvananthapuram , Aug. 17 AS part of the fourth phase of the expansion of the Technopark in Thiruvananthapuram, a `techno city' will be set up on the outskirts of the city. Announcing this while laying the foundation stone for a new building Thejaswini at the Technopark, the Chief Minister, Mr Oommen Chandy, said the `techno city' will be set up on 500 acres of land. The facility, which is targeted at the IT, ITES and biotechnology sectors, will be designed as a self-contained campus with offices and commercial space, besides residential and leisure facilities. According to Technopark authorities, the plan is to develop the `techno city' as a public-private partnership. Meanwhile, work on the second phase of Technopark's expansion is progressing, Mr Chandy said. Acquisition of 100 acres of land required for the third phase of Technopark's expansion is also nearing completion, he added. Commenting on the proposed `Smart City' project in Kochi, Mr Chandy said the Government wants the project to come up in Kerala. The State Government will take all possible measures to ensure that Kerala bags the project, he added.
