Mergers & Acquisitions SSA Global buys Boniva, to expand R&D operations Our Bureau
Hyderabad , Aug. 18 SSA Global Technologies Inc., an enterprise solutions and services provider, which has development-cum R&D centre in Hyderabad, plans to consolidate its operations here. It has also announced the acquisition of Boniva Software Inc., since its products complement SSA Global's. As a part of this expansion-cum-consolidation move, the company expects to deploy about $4 million this year, taking its total investments to $14 million at its R&D cum global support centre in Hyderabad. The acquisition coinciding with 10 years of its operations in Hyderabad , the entire top management of SSA Global was here to celebrate. The President and Chief Executive Officer of SSA Global, Mr Mike Greenough, said that the corporation's strategies had yielded excellent results;the buy-outs had been well thought-out adding to the expansion of the customer base. ". After the successful IPO, we have cash reserves of about $130 million. We are in parleys with about 35-40 companies for possible buy-outs and believe that 6-7 of them fit well into the scheme of things. ," Mr Greenough said addressing a press conference. "From about 30 research and development centres across the world, SSA Global has consolidated them to 8. Of them India centre is thelargest. Currently, about 40 per cent of R&D work is handled out of Hyderabad centre, and we expect this to grow to about 50 per cent. The investments during the year would be in people and consolidation of operations," the Chief Technology Officer, Mr Cory A. Eaves said. Referring to the acquisition, Mr Greenough said, "Boniva has India operations based in Hyderabad and its talent management portfolio of e-learning, skills management and performance management will be integrated to SSA's human capital management solution." However, he did not disclose the value of the deal struck by the company.
