Financial Services Centrum bullish on capital market; plans more centres Our Bureau
Hyderabad , Aug. 19 CENTRUM Capital Ltd, a financial services provider, is betting on the buoyancy in the capital market and plans to expand its centres from the current 36 to 65 within the next 10 months. Inaugurating its 36th centre CentrumDirect in Hyderabad, the Executive Director of Centrum Capita Ltd, Mr Kamlesh Gandhi, told Business Line that the company was bullish on the market given the economic growth and the current investment trends. "From a base of about Rs 30,000 crore in investments in primary markets last year, it was projected to grow at about Rs 45,000 crore. However, midway through, this has been revised upwards at Rs 65,000 crore only from the capital markets. This is significant and is headed to cross the Rs 1,00,000-crore mark next year, offering great scope for growth for a service provider like Centrum," Mr Gandhi said. Not just the capital markets, even the growing investments in the infrastructure segment particularly power projects and roads, offer a lot of scope for syndication. While there was a lull in terms of investments in the power sector, lately, this is showing up, offering opportunity, he said. "After the recent acquisition of Advani Share Brokers, we are also looking at the secondary market, which is witness to boom times. We are already present in the primary markets helping companies take them successfully to IPO and this would be a logical extension. With a presence in 36 centres, not necessarily 36 cities, we already have good visibility and expanding this by about 30 centres would provide a larger footprint," Mr Gandhi said. "It is no longer which city you are in. In fact, the focus now is on which centre in a particular city. This calls for greater focus in expanding and offering services at the doorstep of a customer. Having build up the trust over the years, by the time we expand to about 65 centres, Centrum will make it more online, helping reach out services at the click of a mouse," Mr. Gandhi said.
