THE Andhra Pradesh State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (APSCDRC) is likely to deploy retired police officials for executing arrest warrants.
The Commission President, Mr Justice I.V. Narayana, told newspersons on Sunday that they would work out the modalities on payment of service charges to retired policemen if engaged by consumer forums for execution of warrants.
Admitting that the execution of arrest warrants issued by the consumer courts was not satisfactory, he said that this could be due to the preoccupation of the police with various types of duties.
Mr Narayana was here to take part in the inauguration of Visakhapatnam Consumer Forum-II.
The forum was declared open by High Court judge, Mr Justice J. Chelameswar.
Mr Narayana said that the commission was waiting for a response from the Government on its plea to place some policemen exclusively at the disposal of consumer courts.
