THE International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad (IIIT-H) has entered the next phase of growth laying special emphasis on research and development work through strategic partnerships.

The Director of IIIT-H, Prof. Rajeev Sangal, said that over a dozen research papers co-authored by undergraduate students have been accepted at international conferences, which is unusual for any academic institute.

Speaking at the IIIT-H's fourth convocation ceremony on Sunday, Prof. Sangal said, "IIIT is part of an initiative to scan and archive one million books for wide public use as part of the Digital Library of Indian initiative. IIIT has contributed around two crore pages, which is about 80 per cent of the content available under Digital Library of India."

The Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajashekhara Reddy, said the State Government is working on creating a broadband network, which is being deployed from the technology provided by the IIIT.

Calling upon IIIT-H to locate a centre in Visakhapatnam to expand its role, the Chief Minister promised all support for the institute.

Grant from Google: The Centre for Data Engineering has won a research grant from Google India to implement a single layer data across multiple servers.

The centre is also developing a low-cost enterprise resource-planning package for supply chain management for small businesses.
