APERC norms on `other business'

Our Bureau

HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (APERC) has notified a regulation on the proportion of revenues, from other businesses of the transmission and distribution licensees, to be utilised for reducing transmission and wheeling charges.

The APERC (Treatment of Other Businesses of Transmission Licensees and Distribution Licensees) Regulation mandates the licensees intending to engage in other businesses to inform the details of such plans to the Commission. "They have to maintain separate accounts for such other businesses," the Commission said here in a press release.

Also, the licensee's licensed business should not subsidise the other business. The assets of the licensed business should not be encumbered for other business.

"Utilisation of assets of the licensed business for other business should not affect the performance and obligations under the licensed business," it said.
