Global Inc chief exhorts youth to turn job providers

Coimbatore , Aug. 23

CALIFORNIA-based Global Inc, which recently opened its India Research and Development centre at Bangalore is targeting a turnover of $15 million this year.

This five-year old establishment promoted by an Indian - Mr Suhas Gopinath, in the US, offices in more than 11 countries.

Mr Suhas is seriously considering having the company listed in the New York Stock Exchange in the next six months.

The company offers tailor-made solutions in the fields of Web, mobile, networking, e-commerce and software solutions.

Speaking at the `Meet the CEO Programme' at Dr Mahalingam College of Engineering and Technology, Mr Suhas, who is said to be the youngest CEO at 19, called upon the student community to innovate, to emerge as entrepreneurs in their own special way.

"Indian society is still not ready to take young entrepreneurs, without a degree. We have to break the ice and turn job providers instead of job seekers," he said.

Though he is a CEO at heart, heading a 400-member team at Global Inc, Mr Suhas is still a student, pursuing his bachelor's degree in Information Science Engineering at the M.S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology, Bangalore.

Recalling his early years into this venture, Mr Suhas said, "At 14, I was recognised as the world's youngest professional Web-developer through my project coolhindustan.com. A fortune 500 company was awed by my work and offered me a job.

"The offer made me realise how Americans could buy Indians. I then decided to float a venture, but the laws in India did not permit a minor to start a company. Hence I started this company with the help of a friend in the US in 2000. We even set up offices in London and Australia. In November last, when I turned 18, I set up an R&D centre at Bangalore."

"Becoming an entrepreneur has been an adventure in many ways," he told the students citing a number of incidents during this journey.

On his vision for Global Inc, Mr Suhas told prespersons that the company has developed products like the Corporate Image Enquiry system for the healthcare, banking and aeronautics segment, the Institution Management System for schools and the vehicle tracking system for fleet operators and Government machinery.

The company has managed to install the Institution Management System in 100 schools each at Europe and Nigeria. Global Inc is now planning to make a dent in the Indian education space with this software, which gives a complete graph of the student's performance vis-à-vis the others in the same batch, a teacher's appraisal form, attendance management, virtual marks card over the Net and the complete details that parents or management would like to refer to at any point in time.

"We are in talks with the Government for installing this system in Kendriya Vidyalaya. They are a chain of 870 schools in India, Moscow and Dubai. The proposal is in the evaluation stage. We are hoping that this will be cleared and the system will become operational by the end of the next year."
