Nipuna opts for India-based CEO

V. Rishi Kumar

Hyderabad , Aug. 23

A SENIOR Deutsche Bank official, Mr Venkatesh Roddam, has joined Nipuna, the BPO subsidiary of Satyam Computer Services, as the new Chief Executive Officer effective August 16, 2005.

Prior to joining Nipuna, Mr Venkatesh was the Global Head of Trust and Securities operations for Deutsche Bank based in Frankfurt.

He brings over 18 years of experience in the financial services and banking industry in India and overseas.

Having started his career with ANZ Grindlays Bank, Mr Venkatesh moved on to work with Emirates Bank International and HDFC Bank.

He had been with Deutsche Bank for the last eight years.

"Under Dr Challa Prakash's leadership, Nipuna has experienced significant growth in terms of processes, customers and revenue over the past couple of years.

"While the progress is encouraging, it is very important that Nipuna grows a lot more aggressively to establish itself as one of the top BPO players in India and globally as well," Satyam responded to a Business Line query about the new appointment.

Mr Prakash came on board with an understanding that he would be based in the US as the CEO and support India operations.

According to the company, the experience in the past few years clearly indicates that most of the action required to accelerate Nipuna's growth is in India.

Therefore, it was decided that Nipuna should have India-based CEO.

Mr Prakash has now been re-designated as President, Strategic Relationships and shall be responsible for the relationship management and business development with all Satyam clients.
