Sharp rise in castorseed futures

Mumbai: Castorseed October contracts continued to rule higher on the local oil and oilseeds market on Wednesday on sustained buying support, a broker said.

The contracts were up Rs 26 to close at Rs 1,666 per quintal from previous close. In edible oils, groundnut oil ruled steady on scattered buying. RBD palmolein ruled steady. Soya oil refined ruled weak on some offerings.

Groundnut oil ready was steady at Rs 488 per 10 kg. RBD palmolein was steady at Rs 364 per 10 kg.

Soya refined oil imported was down Rs 2 at Rs 350 per 10 kg. Castor oil commercial grade was unchanged at Rs 351 per 10 kg.

Sugar: Sugar spot prices continued to rule weak at the Vashi wholesale market on continued offerings, a trader said.Small grade (S-30) was down Rs 11 at Rs 1,816-1,870 per quintal over previous day. Medium grade (M-30) was down Rs 2 at Rs 1,871-1,916 per quintal over previous close.

Grains and pulses

New Delhi: Prices of atta and maida were off by Rs 5 each at Rs 760-765 and Rs 840-845 per bag respectively. Wheat, however, ruled at the previous close of Rs 759-761 per quintal for the dara quality.

In pulses, kabligram gained by Rs 100 per quintal with smaller grade up at Rs 2,975-3,000, medium at Rs 3,650-4,000 and Mexican at Rs 4,400-4,700 per quintal. Rajmash chitra Pune surged to Rs 2,650-3,200, up by Rs 50 per quintal, while Chinese quality was off Rs 30 at Rs 2,650-2,700. Urad Maharashtra and MP each dropped by Rs 25 at Rs 2,025-2,075 and Rs 1,900-1,925 per quintal.
