Eye of the apple

S. Gopakumar

A fruit vendor in Thiruvananthapuram has struck upon an ingenious idea for displaying indigenous varieties of apples that predominate the market during August-November. Prices range between Rs 40 and 60 a kg. The season from December to July will see an influx of foreign varieties mainly from Australia, the US, France and South Africa which command a price range of Rs 90 to Rs 120.
