New Delhi , Aug. 24

THE Government is to provide the transaction document to bidders participating in the modernisation and development of Delhi and Mumbai airports next week and hopes to receive the bids by the middle of next month, the Union Minister for Civil Aviation, Mr Praful Patel, has said.

Addressing the Parliamentary Consultative Committee on Civil Aviation, the Minister regretted the delay in the implementation of the project, but said that the Government was committed to building world-class airports.

Responding to concerns raised by various members about the `neglect' of Indian Airlines and Air India, he admitted that, over the years, not enough cooperation and support had been given to the two state-owned airlines. The Minister added that it was now necessary to take remedial action at the earliest not only with transparency but also promptness.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has appointed a consultant from Australia to get over the problems of delays to airlines being caused due to air traffic control problems. Besides, the Ministry is considering a report on this matter submitted by a committee headed by the former Secretary Civil Aviation, Mr Patel said.
