Stock Markets Markets - Stock Markets Sensex closes 48 points higher Our Bureau
Mumbai , Aug. 25 STOCK prices reversed their five-day downturn on Thursday, recovering some of their recent losses on value buying. The recovery was also helped by the fact that Thursday was the last day of derivatives contracts. The BSE Sensex closed at 7,660.42, up 48.42 points (0.64 per cent) and the NSE's S&P CNX Nifty at 2,354, up 32.05 points (1.38 per cent) with most of the recovery coming in the last one hour of trading. However, the major interest of market players was seen in mid-cap and small-cap stocks, which saw active buying. This was seen from the rise of 2.96 per cent for BSE small-cap index and 1.14 per cent for mid-cap index. On the NSE, the CNX Midcap index was up 1.15 per cent.
