Tea Mixed trend in Kochi tea sale Our Bureau
Kochi , Aug 26 A MIXED trend persisted for almost all varieties of tea at the Kochi tea auction. Though the dust sale witnessed a good general demand, it was comparatively low for leaf varieties. Of the quantity of 8,03,000 kg on offer in the dust category, best CTCs were steady to sometimes dearer. Good medium CTCs were firm to dearer by Rs 3-4 and many times more. The bottom of the market was irregular. Orthodox dust high-growns was dearer by Rs 3-5. Mediums were also dearer. As per the figures made available with Forbes, Ewart and Figgis (Pvt) Ltd, the best CTC varieties commanded prices between Rs 65and Rs 85, medium CTC realised Rs 55-63, and below medium were quoted Rs 21-30. High-grown BOPD fetched prices between Rs 112 and Rs 114, while medium BOPD realised Rs 35-39. Secondaries were quoted at Rs 27-31, while residuals realised Rs 21-23. The leaf sale witnessed only a fair general demand and the quantity on offer was 2,92,000 kg. Orthodox high-growns were steady, while good medium steady to sometimes dearer. CTCs were generally steady. The best Nilgiri varieties commanded prices between Rs 55-79, while medium orthodox realised Rs 36-48. The best CTC leaf fetched prices between Rs 42-45, while medium CTC realised Rs 36-38. In the leaf category, Parkside Cl BOPD realised the best prices of Rs 114 followed by both Pasuparai FD and Kodanad Cl.BOPD at Rs 112 each. The price of Rs 110 fetched for Pasuparai RD grade was an all-time record price for an RD grade in South India auctions.
