Visakhapatnam , Aug. 28

THE Tenali-based Kumar Group of Industries, a medium unit manufacturing pumpsets and motors, has set up a distribution office here to improve its sales in the north-coastal districts of Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam.

After inaugurating the branch here on Sunday, Mr K. Subrahmanyam, Managing Director, said the unit had started functioning in a small way three decades ago at Tenali in Guntur district and was currently one of the leading manufacturers of pumpsets and motors along with Texmaco and Suguna, with an annual turnover of Rs 12 crore and roughly 30 per cent market share in the State.

"In the two Godavari districts, our market share is 80 per cent and our products are well-known. We have to popularise our products in these three districts. We focus on providing quality pumpsets and on prompt after-sales service," he said.

He said his company was selling all sorts of pumpsets and motors, competitively priced, to cater to the needs of the domestic, industrial and agricultural segments.

"We have no problem with our main competitors - the leading brands.

However, we are facing stiff competition from the unorganised sector.

All sorts of cheap, assembled pumps and motors are flooding the market in the Telangana region.

With the Government offering free power to the farm sector, these operators are having a field day," he said.
