MCH to seek help from NGOs, corporates

Our Bureau

Hyderabad , Sept. 1

IN a novel initiative, the Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad (MCH) has decided to rope in corporates and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to improve facilities for road users.

Top officials of MCH held a meeting, inviting representatives of corporates and NGOs in the city to discuss the idea. The objective was to take the help of cash-rich and socially responsible corporates to build infrastructure such as foot over bridges (FOBs), road central medians, traffic junctions and public toilets.

Seeing an overwhelming response to the proposal, the MCH has decided to conduct bid-cum-auctions to sell sponsorships for different projects.

The first of such bid-cum-auction would be held in September at the MCH headquarters, Mr N.V.S. Reddy, Additional Commissioner (Traffic and Transportation), said in a press release.

The estimated cost of FOBs at the following places are: Abids (Rs 49 lakh); Nampally (Rs 58.5 lakh); Madina (Rs 53.5 lakh); Dilsuknagar (Rs 58 lakh); Rasoolpura (Rs 60.7 lakh); Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet (Rs 55.7 lakh); Ameerpet (Rs 51 lakh) and Mehdipatnam (Rs 73.5 lakh).
