Bajaj Auto sales up 34 pc in August

BAJAJ Auto Ltd (BAL) on Thursday reported a 34 per cent rise in the total sales of two and three-wheelers in August this year at 186,802 units, from 139,743 units in the year-ago period.
Two-wheeler sales for the month were up 37 per cent at 164,020 units (119,895 units for the year-ago period), including a 40 per cent increase in motorcycle sales to 149,415 units (106,745 units). Sales of three-wheelers moved up 15 per cent to 22,782 units (19,848 units). Exports increased by 75 per cent to 23,752 units (13,575 units).
For the April-August period, BAL registered a 29 per cent gain in total sales of two- and three-wheelers to 841,180 units (654,476 units), including a 33 per cent rise in two-wheeler sales to 742,502 units (558,899 units). Motorcycle sales were up 41 per cent at 687,174 units (485,791 units), while sales of three-wheelers were up 3 per cent at 98,678 units (95,577 units). Exports for the period were higher by 13 per cent at 88,943 units (78,875 units).
